SNAP-PAC-R1 Serial Port

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if you can use the front serial port of an R1 to communicate Modbus to an AC Drive/Servo Drive that is serial RS-422 (Modbus)? If so, where can I find a wiring/programming example(s). If not, what can I use in a SNAP-PAC Rack to achieve this?
Any input would be appreciated.

The serial port on the PAC-R1 is RS232. You need to use an external converter to get RS485.
