Sensors that can tap into (so we can monitor and/or manipulate) badge access to one of our more sophisticated machine shop devices, like a laser cutter

We’re starting our Industry 4.0 transformation with the groov RIO (& eventually EPIC) product line.

We’re looking for sensors that can tap into (so we can monitor and/or manipulate) badge access to one of our more sophisticated machine shop devices, like a laser cutter. We went to ensure that the technician is qualified to operate the equipment. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi John. Welcome to the forums!

Do the badges have barcodes on them?
Do they have RFID?
Whats on the badge that we might be able to tell one badge from another?

John,

  • Would the badges access the actual machine (laser cutter), or the door to room that houses the machine?
  • For clarity, are you looking for recommendations for what technology to use, or do you already have something that you’re looking for help in communicating to?

We have RFID badges.

Looking for recommendations on enabling equipment for operator use who have been pre-qualified on the equipment (laser cutter, break press, even forklift) that they want operate on the shop floor.
