Remote IO not re-connecting after power failiure

Hi Guys,

I have a situation, where i have one Epic brain that connects to 4 Rio’s. Two of them have a direct ethernet wire to the Epic and the other two are remotely connected through an antenna. I have been seeing that everytime there is a power failure that the ethernet antenna are off and then come back, the Epic Brain is not able to activate the two Rios, on the remote network. For me to activate them again, i need to log into the Brain Epic program and activate the IO within Pac Control.

Thinking ahead for future situations, what programming options can be done to always ramp up the IO remotely without interracting with the logic.

thanks

We always recommend that you either roll your own I/O enabler, or use the PSG/Opto22 one.

When you unzip it, there is a document in the subdirectory explaining how to import the chart and set it up (don’t forget to add it to the power up chart with a start chart command).

You also might need to tweak the remote RIOs to have more timeouts and longer.

Hi Beno,

The IO enabler link used a Pac Pro version, i only have the basic version. However, let me share with you the current IO enabler that i have in place, but i saw a problem with it.

When i added the IP number for the RIO’s and for some reason Pac Control would never activate them. I ended up removing them from the IO Enabler chart and then they started working. Can you see what could be the problem with this chart?

thanks

Sorry for the Pro link… I did not know, but at some point we split the I/O enabler into two.
The legacy IO, the one I first linked you to requires Pro for those legacy I/O types.

This one here:

Is just for Ethernet I/O and will open fine with PAC Control Basic.

Looking at your chart, it seems you have the I/O enabler already, so you should be set.
I can’t quite track what your saying about when you remove it, it works.

I’d suggest that you double-check the I/O chart from the web to ensure it matches what you have.
We have hundreds, if not thousands, of customers, using that chart to do exactly what your original post describes. We also have hundreds using Wi-Fi, Starlink, and other such links and have no issue (if they are using some sort of I/O enabler), so it’s just a matter of tracking down a setting in your enabler.

HI Beno,

Rechecked the chart, looks similar to mine.

I updated the charts to include all the IP’s, and I’m testing it now. Originally, when i did it, it didn’t allow the chart to start the IO for some reason. Ill keep you posted during the next days to see.

thank you so much for your help

regards
