My parent company has been using Groov Rios for 5-6 years (I think)
While on here, looking through the Knowledge base, there are things that reference specific Firmwares. The nature of our product (heavy equipment going to new construction) is that it might be offline for a long time. while the sites get built. anyway, I’ve been with my parent company only a year and a half. .. so I have no frame of reference for when certain firmware versions were out. I know when we get new devices in the store room those have FW version 3.6 (recently) and that 4.0.1 is out( downloadable)
So I’m trying to predict issues with units which will be coming online soon.
I think if there was a time line I could reference, giving the release times of firmware, this might help me do issue tracking.
Now you might be saying: just update the firmware. … Believe me, I would love to, but this is not an option in our design, which (paraphrasing) is: [PLC] → [RIO] →[HMI]
with no external connections. .. ok ok, the PLC might be able to have an external connection, but I wouldn’t recommend it, and the options that gives you aren’t at the firmware upgrading level.
So Ill be trying to write OptoMMP commands via the PLC… which is going to suck. but it will suck a whole lot worse if we have to fly a tech out to upgrade firmware to every site we’ve sold units to in the last 5 years.
So anyway. I’ll keep my research going, and humbly request a release history.
I see some posts on it. maybe Ill just have to write my own page.
