Is it possible to poll devices that are wired to #1, but using PAC Control strategy on #2?

Yes, but you will need some Node-RED glue and tweak things a bit…
Check out this flow from @philip (second last post in the thread).
Once you have the two Node-RED flows talking back and forth, move the serial data into PAC Control.
