I am troubleshooting a communication issue with a Snap LCM4 with a M4SENET-100 card. In the card settings under IP Security there is an option for “Stop incoming broadcasts”…Yes or No. I cannot find anything on it in the documentation. What does this do?
The M4SENET card uses a few buffers between it and the control engine. Pretty much every Ethernet packet the card hears goes through those buffers.
Most of the time broadcast packets are of no nutritional value to the strategy and so you have the option to stop them from getting to the buffer ‘pipe’ and thus take some load off the buffers and the control engine.
Generally I stopped them.
