Hi all,
Have anyone tried intergating the codex or cursor with pac project?
Hi all,
Have anyone tried intergating the codex or cursor with pac project?
Hi Naren,
I think that’s the dream. Right now, a lot of PAC Project resources are tied up in binary file formats. For example, PAC Display (.uui) and PAC Control (.idb) files are binary and are not too meaningful for AI agents. If there were a text-format for those files, AI tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etc., could understand and edit those files a LOT more cleanly.
PAC Control does offer some support for text files that LLMs can kind of reason about. Variables can be imported or exported as .CSV files. And I/O configurations can be imported or exported as .OTG files. Both of those formats are text formats rather than binary. So, technically an AI agent could help configure I/O and Variables if it can get the formatting right. But using Cursor, Codex, etc. for directly working with charts in a text format isn’t currently supported.
Another option right now is using an AI agent to drive the Windows UI. This is becoming more and more feasible in late 2026, but it means handing over control of a Windows desktop to AI which not everyone is comfortable with. I’ve had success using VS Code tunneled into a Windows VM that GitHub Copilot was able to drive using something like the Windows MCP server to control the desktop GUI. It was able to do the full strategy development loop in PAC Control. But that was just here in my controlled little lab setup.
That being said, feature requests from customers like you do carry weight. So, if you have some use-case you’re imagining with Codex or Cursor and PAC Project, please let us know what you’d like to see!
File, View/Print, All Chart Instructions is useful for AI code review.
As @ccaldwell mentioned, the binary file formats are going to be a problem unless you’re hoping to use an agent to control the UI. I’ve been asking for some sort of files (even sidecar files) that would allow diff tracking and integration with tools like Git for many years (even something as simple as generating the single chart instructions printout as a .txt file alongside the .cht file in the project directory) and have seen no real progress on that front, so my hopes are low.
