IDC5Q - Quad counter for encoder

we want to connect an encoder (500 pulse per rev;A/A-; B/B-) to view speed and length measurement, length increase and decrease;
like 0 - 500 mtr, stop, 500 - 350 mtr, stop 350 - 400; stop, 400 - 0 mtr Stop

  • how to determine the (IN/OUT) direction?
    The information we found in the forms does not give us the answer.

Question:
Encoder turns CW = positive counts (in OPTO), then input value = (+) XXX counts from IDC5Q ?
Encoder turns CCW = negative counts (in OPTO), then input value = (-) XXX counts from IDC5Q?
We did not received the module yet, but need to proceed with strategy…
