HDMI output 5V power

Looking at a customer request for extended HDMI HMI display likely requiring cat or optical extenders. Anyone know the amount of current the Epics can provide safely on HDMI pin 18 (+5V) for such devices? (I know what the spec says, I’m just curious as often manufacturers polyfuse or current limit supply this pin at a higher current for such devices).

Until I can follow up with the hardware design guys, assume it is to the spec.

BTW, we have a few customers using CAT extenders and this question has never come up, so I assume they are using external power supplies for the adapters vs trying to drive them from the HDMI port (which seems like a bad idea regardless of the current provided).

Thanks. Thought I would ask as it’s not uncommon in other fields to source 500mA on that pin to allow such devices, but I don’t know what Opto provides.

Heard back from the hardware engineers… We adhere to the spec and current limit the current to around 50mA with a passive component.

Thanks for checking.
