We are upgrading from G4 and SNAP generations of hardware to Groov. Our next step is moving 20 rectifiers in which 10 of those have a power and fault outputs (input to Groov). We were thinking of using an GRV-IDC-24 module since they all share a common power source. The issue is that the rectifiers use a sinking (power comes through negative wire) output and were wondering if anyone know if we can still use the IDC-24 without issue?
I would recommend sticking with isolated modules. You haven’t given enough information to say it would be okay or not and you may not even have that information available to you. I would guess that most likely you need to keep them isolated. Another reason to go with isolated modules is when a rectifier needs replaced and the new models are different you will have less issues to deal with.
Also be careful if the power output signal is directly connected to the rectifiers output - fusing at the rectifier is needed.
The person that knows about this kind of stuff suggested we go through a relay instead of splitting into two different modules which would be in two different cabinets. These 20 rectifiers are using almost every channel on 16 modules (one of which is an IDC24). Although it wouldn’t change much, we are trying to stay in one cabinet for ease of troubleshooting when there are issues.
