Groov RIO does NOT reset

I have a groov rio. I bought as an experiment approximately 1.5 years ago. I have physical access to the device. The credentials I saved in my password vault do not work. I am unable to factory reset the device. Holding the reset button while connected to 24vdc power does nothing. No lights flash, its as if I am not pressing the button at all.

Is there a way to update the firmware outside groov manage?

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can recover my device?

I was able to obtain access to Groov Manage. I realize a means outside of groov manage to update the firmware would make the device weak from a security perspective. I suppose the moral of the story is make sure credentials are properly documented.
