Groov Epic and Rio Wifi Dongle

Hi everyone, does anyone have a current/new Wi-Fi dongle that’s compatible with both the groov EPIC and RIO?

Hi Naren, The current WIFI adapter list in the user guides is still accurate. We will be adding more with the new EPIC and RIO firmware update expected within the next few months.

This list is a few months old, but shows options and availability for the approved adapters for both the EPIC and RIO.

Thanks for the list. I currently have one EPIC controller and two RIOs. Do I need a separate Wi-Fi dongle for each device to connect to Wi-Fi, or can I daisy-chain the EPIC with the two RIOs so that connecting one controller to Wi-Fi allows all devices to be on the network?

You’re welcome. It’s possible to connect to the RIOs using Port Redirect with the EPIC. Though it may not be the optimal configuration depending on what you are looking to achieve with your network.

Hey Jeff, so there is currently no option to connect the Epic over Wifi? None of the compatible adapters are available anymore.

Has there been any more development on this since last post?

There are compatible USB wifi adapters available here and there, granted, you do have to search a little harder for them.

Great progress is being made on the new version of firmware that updated drivers and thus a wider range of USB Wifi adapters. No release date, but the Forums is always the first place news breaks.

A lot of customers are using Ethernet to Wifi adapters (often called travel routers).
They are often more Industrial mounted as they don’t plug into the USB, often cheaper, for sure easier to find and the best bit is that no drivers at all are required, not in the current firmware or any future firmware versions.
