having some ethernet socket issues on a site using the PR1
Only way to get the strat up and running is to clear the memory via pack control if it ever connects.
PLEASE add a clear memory button or command on the controller page of pac manager
any suggestions?
Firstly, are you working with our support group in regards to the Ethernet socket issue?
That sort of thing is pretty rare and we need to help you get to the bottom of it.
(My first question would be if you are doing any ‘comm handle’ commands in the strategy. I’ve seen code that does not handle the opening and closing of the sockets gracefully / correctly and that can cause issues).
Second, you say PAC Manager, but I think you mean groov Manage?
We could, but that is only a work around to point 1.
If you do actually mean PAC Manager, that’s the wrong tool for control engine commands. PAC Manager is more for MMP.
PAC Terminal is for working with the control engine and it already has the command you seek.
Hi Ben - not chatting with them yet. We do a lot of com handle stuff in our charts, yes. I have seen the issues it can cause and we always try do it correctly/gracefully. Funny thing about this is that it only happen at this particular site, we use the same strat at multiple sites.
However, today I found that this site had version PAC_Project_R10.5003-106 installed (we are using version R10.5003-165) to get around the issue I updated their version of PP to PAC_Project_R10.5003-165 (it never complained in the strat about opening an older version which is weird). I then also re-installed the PR1 firmware and we had no more issues.
On the second point, apologies I did mean GROOV MANAGE to clear the RAM. I did not even think about using PAC Term, thanks for that!
