Help with access to groov website from external location

Hi

Im setting up a groov server. I have configured firewall to allow connections to port 443.
I have localhost access to my groov server through firefox.

when i try to access from a remote location, i get a TLS certificate error and cant access.

i will appreciate your help

thanks!

Whats the error you get after accepting the certificate warning?
Are you using the self signed certificate that comes with groov Server for Windows?
Are you sure there is not another service running on port 443 and you are hitting that rather than groov?

Hi
thanks for the help.

i just noticed this is occurring only on my PC. i get this error on firefox
The connection to the server was interrupted while the page was loading.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

when i try to access from my iphone, i dont see this error.

i dont want to install any certificates on every client that accesses

Firefox have just (in the past few days/weeks) updated their stance on self signed certificates.
Try a different browser on your PC and see how that goes.

You should not need to put a cert on every client, I was just wondering what cert you were using… Ours, yours or a CA’s.

Curious, what change did you hear they made?

I’m running Firefox 59.0.2 - I still can go to Advanced and Add Exception on self-signed certs.

@philip Good catch… The change was only for .dev top level domains.
Happen in build 59.0.1. So at least I was right about that… It was not that long ago. (I got it mixed up with some other cert stuff I happen to be working on 2ish weeks ago).
More here; Chrome & Firefox now force .dev domains to HTTPS via preloaded HSTS
