Caption Bar/Events/Kiosk Menu Items - Questions

We will be implementing Groov View in stand-alone units, these will not be in a ‘factory floor’ environment. Some of our customers are, at times, ‘button pushers’. We understand the ‘caption bar’ can not be removed, disabled or hidden from view. We are trying to work with this for our advantage.

Couple questions: (I can’t seem to find these things discussed in the User Manual for View)

  • Caption Bar: Can areas be covered up, with a rectangular gadget of the same color as the bar, to hide them?
  • Events: can ‘Message Logs’ be the default viewing option when the Events is opened, instead of the ‘Current Status’ of events that were created for use in the View pages? The end user doesn’t necessarily need to see those events.
  • Kiosk User: When the ‘Menu’ is selected from the caption bar. ‘Switch user’ selection: If there are no others Users or Accounts that can be switched to/from, can this option for Kiosk be disabled?

Sorry for the twenty questions, but many of our units are shipped internationally, and it difficult to convey to these customers that the choices displayed are not for their use.

Thanks in advance
Dave

Caption Bar: Can areas be covered up, with a rectangular gadget of the same color as the bar, to hide them?

No, the page renders beneath the menu bar, and even if you scroll it down a bit, the menu bar renders at a higher Z index than the page, so it’ll always float on top.

Events: can ‘Message Logs’ be the default viewing option when the Events is opened, instead of the ‘Current Status’ of events that were created for use in the View pages? The end user doesn’t necessarily need to see those events.

Not currently.

  • Kiosk User: When the ‘Menu’ is selected from the caption bar. ‘Switch user’ selection: If there are no others Users or Accounts that can be switched to/from, can this option for Kiosk be disabled?

There are always other users that can be switched to. In particular, there’s always going to be an Admin user in the project.

Thanks,
Yes, we will still have an Admin account. So I guess if a service tech would need access to Groov Manage for troubleshooting, etc., they could ‘Switch Users’ for their purposes. Makes sense.
